That's lovely Tisha 🥰

Two years ago today - dusk at Fellsfjara beach at Jökulsárlón beach. Just love that place.

Thank you for sharing Shannon - mushrooms and fungi are just so cool :)

Not sure yet - only just happened (well, leak site just found after two days of leaking) so need to see what the clean-up/fixing will entail. I've been in office/flat the whole time! No longer have parking permit here so that's a bit of a pain, but yes, I have been missing Richmond Park...

Benefit of flat sale falling through endlessly: somewhere to live when the rented house has a dramatic water leak under the kitchen 😬 Leak site finally found after two days, lots of damage done...

So time for some more #mushrooms from the weekend. Not sure what that last one is all about.
An upright mushroom with a bit of light showing through the gills. Lots of autumn leaves and greenery blur around and behind. Two mushrooms - the taller one on the right has beautiful stripy patterns; the smaller one on the left has a brown cap that has come partially off the stem and has been eaten on the top. Two squat brown mushrooms. The left hand one has two chunks out of them, showing the gills behind. They look a little like windows in tiny houses. An acorn sits in some moss next to what I think is a half rotten fungus - white bits around the edge and brown inside with lots of nobbly bits. No idea what it is though!

Thank you! Will look out for that in my local woods - never seen one like it!

Ooh that orange one is very cool!

Thank you Iben :) I adore these mushrooms - soooo many of them in my new local woods 🥰

Very cool! Thank you for sharing with me :)

My favourites too! I still have a bag of Djúpur for a friend I haven’t seen yet. Probably worth scoffing them as I’ll be back to get some more soon!

Thanks both! I don’t know if these ones are edible but someone mentioned that there were some purple ones that the local
Ukrainians had come to pick and put in stew! I would never trust any of them to not be poisonous 😬😅

Is really like to get back to Tasmania but probably won’t be for a few years. I have a friend in Brisbane so would be good to head up there too and explore the rainforests…

I have (including Noosa) but it was more about the backpackers drinking trail than real exploring!! I was 31 (not that young, but surrounded by twenty-somethings!)

Very nice Russ - they’re called asperitas (previously undulatus asperatus) :)
sophiecarr.bsky.social
Thank you! Just need some more of that light (didn’t get any this weekend so it was all about the ‘shrooms).

It is kinda crazy thinking about how these things were discovered!

And some more images of the fly agaric with some detailed close-ups of the gills and drying out top skin (not sure what these bits are called!) - I saw quite a few, after a very helpful local couple pointed me in the right direction 🍄😍

Fly agaric toadstool - red with white dots. Some leaf litter around is blurred, the mushroom in focus. Detail of the top edge of a fly agaric mushroom that has passed its peak. Detail of the gills of a fly agaric mushroom that is passed its peak. A side view of a flat-topped fly agaric mushroom, with the gills and frilly bit showing below.

How wonderful! I adore the noise of birds and buzzing. And those trees are amazing :)
sophiecarr.bsky.social
Yeah, me too! I saw a couple two weekends ago, but thought they'd gone by now, but found these new ones.

A few more mushrooms from today's trip to the woods 🍄

#Berkhamsted #localPhotography #woodlandPhotography #Fungi #Mushrooms
Three mushrooms, one in focus, with some moss. The mushrooms are facing in different directions and are on long stalks. Purple mushrooms among blurred leaf litter. A group of pale brown mushrooms that look a bit like perfect blonde bob hairstyles from behind. Puffball mushrooms on the forest floor surrounded by blurred brown leaves.

They’re really cute aren’t they! I met a nice local couple who showed me where some were so I saw quite a few :)

Mine can get that low but not ground level. A beanbag or bag of rice is a very easy method!

Out in the woods again today doing some more mushroom bothering. Found a great new tool for forest floor work, as my tripod doesn't get low enough - some rice in a ziplock bag :)

Two fly agaric (red) mushrooms, one in focus in the foreground, and a more orange one blurred behind.
