Cold but beautiful sunny day for Saturday morning shopping In York. The bells from the Minster – – ringing nonstop – – really put a smile on my face.

I can find no words just officially express my outrage and deep sadness at this. The White House is not a private residence. It is sacred ground—a piece of history. One that belongs to all of us.

SO I think you can all guess what I am doing today. I am attacking my current draft with vigor. Whether I or the draft will be victorious on this particular day has yet to be determined ;)

Almost 3 weeks in York— and every day, whether I’m walking around the shops or heading to Pilates or sitting on my desk— I’m surrounded my history.

As my countdown to #York continues, today I am celebrating my favorite city “bar”. Not a place for getting drinks. But a name for the city gates. York has four major bars left in their city walls. This one’s my favorite because— besides being a stunner —it’s near my favorite coffee shop.

My countdown to York has begun. This Thursday I fly to the UK to begin the next chapter of my author life. I feel so fortunate to have been granted a talent visa in literature. Feels like a fairytale.

It never ceases to amaze me where my "book that started it all" ends up! Got this picture from a reader on vacation in Provence. She took Marguerite and Eleanor along with her. She took them home. #historicalfiction #Provence

While Etienne Belland, royal fireworks maker and part of my detective team in 1666, escaped being charged with starting the Great Fire of London, another young Frenchman did not. A scapegoat was needed . . .

When you’re spending more per capita than pretty much anyone else and you’re tied for 40th – – that’s not great. So much winning (not).

One of the things I love most about writing and reading historical fiction is how it brings the past to life in a way that illustrates how what is essentially human doesn’t actually change even if everything else does
