They are currently relaunching their rivers and seas watch platform. It’s in consultation. Another load of data will probably get ‘lost’.

Nationalise water to ensure proper investment in maintenance and repairs and none of that investment being handed over to third parties and foreign investors.

Cllr Parks asked how the
Golf Road 7th July reading of 9900 e.Coli was not caused by 6th July spill? SW said their modelling of coastal current, wind & volumes shows it didn’t.

Our question is what about releases at Elizabeth Street, Dover? (not recognised by EA) Did they cause the spike in e.Coli?

The Environment Agency found an absence of human DNA in the testing the did around the 9900 e.Coli reading in July. So they have concluded urban run-off is to blame.
Cllr Pout asked if this is merely an assumption? EA response is yes due to lack of human, dog and ruminant DNA we assume urban run-off

Cllr Parks asked; “How unusual is it to jump two classifications?”
Lindsay Faulkner of the Environment Agency has never seen it. Normally it moves up in steps through the classifications, she said.

Look out for new big belly bins on Deal Castle Beach, Southern Water say they’re funding this, so keep ‘em peeled.
