You're also given modular choice of Japanese spoken dialogue but using either Japanese or English names, and this is a brand new cast of characters. It's not like Phoenix Wright and Joey Wheeler where decisions were made 20 years ago and that's just their names for English speakers now.

These are things paradoxically foundational to the human experience yet also not critically important for individual survival. I work, pay taxes, maintain a good credit rating, have a degree, etc. but I am missing those things and feel somewhat developmentally growth stunted as a result

it's been 20 years since this development team made Dragon Quest 8, but I get those vibes just running around already. Maybe it's the music.

I watched the overview trailer and it seemed fine? Yeah idk people seem to having straight up meltdowns over it. I highly doubt this is going to be an Other M situation lol

I'm quite surprised Lego hasn't released some new and proper premium Bionicle product aimed at deep-pocketed millennials. Nostalgia's a helluva drug. Instead all they've done is this... thing.

For the most part the main gang being busted was actually part of what made the show entertaining. And I liked that non-benders like Ty Lee also really got to be powerful. But also Katara picking up bloodbending near-instantly after getting the spiel of it taking many years to learn was kind of lol

The one year time limit established at the beginning just necessitated very whacky power level scaling, not just for Aang but Katara and Toph were also stupid strong because they had to be for Aang to learn from the best, while Zuko was casually a master ninja swordsman on top of being a firebender

The comet didn't even matter! Aang not only was able to learn all four elements in a fraction of the time of his ancestors while goofing off on the side and he -still- beat full power comet-juiced Ozai. He didn't even need the Avatar state! He spared Ozai from the lightning redirection beforehand!

I think my real criticism of the series is really the major overarching plot of Sozin's comet and Ozai. The former rushed the show's narrative and the latter was an incredibly dull and uninteresting villain compared to his daughter and he did nothing until the final two episodes

The most hilarious irony is the Ember Island players episode where Aang gets angry when the actors portray his relationship with Katara as a brother and sister one and, uh yeah it kind of was? Also they're like 13 and 14 was giving them a romantic payoff really that important?
