Friends - I’ve watched through TWICE in three days while doing chores, etc. and I can safely say:

I imagine his tattoo was highlighted here because Taika and Jemaine were doing "The Untold Tales of Maui" at this time. And legend says that Maui (and his brothers) were able to lasso the sun and stop him from rising. Maui made Te Rā agree to slow his path to give more time and light for the people.

And because I'm me, how about a little info-dump about personal interests? The moko (tattoo) you see is Tamanuiterā. The "Great Son of the Sun". He represents light and life. He is a symbol for power and balance and warmth.

The koru (spiral) can represent the sun's journey and the circle of life.

It was a lot of fun though and completely hilarious. Fast forward to 2012, and it's Ants' (docta) 40th birthday. He's now overseas, but his wife gets in touch to see if we send her a photo of the Sunday Ballers to include in a slide show she's making to mark his birthday.
