Not sure which MB you’re using as baseline for ink capacity. 149 is certainly one of the highest I own—eyedropper pens are probably the only ones that are larger. The M800 and M1000 Pelikans are also not too shabby as far as capacity.

If you’re set on a 149, seek out a vintage from a reputable restorer/dealer. The new ones aren’t quite the same.

Have you looked at others such as Sailor King of Pen or Pelikan M1000?

Most likely, but I’ve never sought one out. I’ve been to a couple of fountain pen shows, but I find the crowding disconcerting.

The steel 1.1 stub is nice but it’s missing something to me. I may look around to see what my options are. I really want something between a B/BB and a stub. I’ll likely have to chat with a nibmeister.

My gut feeling is the new Esties don’t quite do justice to their predecessors, but I still find them an attractive, clean design. I’d love more manufacturers attempting “alternative” (for today) filling systems, rather than cartridge-converter.
