At Jupiter Inlet, archaeologists uncovered a massive shell mound built as early as 6,000 years ago. This site, once a thriving village possibly inhabited by the Jeaga, held ceremonial structures, rare trade beads from the 1500s, and one of the oldest examples of mound-building in North America.
