@davekarger.bsky.social David Lee, in many ways, carries the film. When I think of Tatum O'Neal's brilliant, Oscar-winning performance in "Paper Moon" I'm always reminded of Kevin Hooks in "Sounder" and I wonder how a performance as strong as his could have been overlooked for awards.
