Theme of the day: all the feels about people not bothering to be appropriately intentional with their word choice and the language they use. Ugh.

One of my favorite things about prioritizing attending things for the purpose of being in community with strong women is the frequency with which I am inadvertently in a place where @ayannapressley.bsky.social is speaking to the attendees 🤩

It's exhausting simultaneously pretending Boston has a high-tier transit system while also viscerally appreciating how walkable the city is because various parts of the T are down/dysfunctional🙃🙃🙃

I'm always thankful when the T gets me back downtown before having issues. Walkable shoes are the cornerstone of my closet for exactly this situation.

With Mike Piazza as my first-ever favorite player it's great to see a catcher win the Derby!

The green line consistently sets off the loud noise/environment alarm on my Apple Watch even more consistently than Red Sox games 🙄

When no one shows up to run the beach you walk the beach instead ☀️

Of all the weird things I NEVER could have expected about my 30s... definitely multiple news cycles with the phrase "Alligator Alcatraz" is exceptionally high on the WTF list.

Me: why does my throat hurt?!

Also me: participated at multiple actions today including one where I shouted & chanted for nearly an hour straight

I enjoyed some new union chants that I wasn't familiar with tonight!

I forgot how good it feels to aggressively sing Sweet Caroline in a full stadium and MEAN IT at the chorus ❤️⚾️❤️

Bonus points for the gorgeous weather.

I miss when the worst recent news story in my immediate world was the Sox signing Chapman 🤷‍♀️

What I wanted wasn't available in the dimensions I needed, so the store employee suggested I might use a carabiner and a zip tie...

Then everyone in the store laughed when I explained that "I'm an elementary school teacher, I can 'hack' it until kingdom come, but I wanted to buy one."

Ah yes, perilous AND very dangerous. Of course.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them.

When someone tells you what they care about, believe them.

When someone goes on very public record, with hundreds of in-person witnesses, stating their goals and intentions, believe them.

Why are the diagnosis rates of autism higher today than they used to be?

Probably for the same swath of reasons that being diagnosed as anything other than neurotypical no longer means automatically being institutionalized 🤷‍♀️

I cannot imagine sitting in a Presidential address as a deceased loved one is being talked about, and having to try to hold it together knowing the TV cameras will find you.

It must be an incredibly difficult moment for these families, even as they and their loved ones are being honored/praised 💗

Cutting from Musk to Elizabeth Warren on her phone brought me just a bit of visual joy

How can this number of people applaud the proposal that even one public school lose federal funding over extracurricular participation?!

(Yes I know there's more reasons he'd pull funding... But that was effectively the punchline of that story.)
March 5, 2025 at 2:39 AM
I know I should be preserving my brain cells and sanity to not watch this address but sometimes you just need to experience things with your own senses, even bad things.

Decorum is not singing as a Congressperson is removed from a Presidential address. Talk about an overt double standard.
March 5, 2025 at 2:34 AM
It's all about balance. One ear on a school committee meeting, one ear on the Presidential address... so maybe it's my own fault I think I heard President Trump compare himself to George Washington? But I think that really happened.
