I still use a Kindle just because the books I already had, but I've seen a lot of people opting for Kobo. At some point I was tempted to buy one because that would allow me to use the Libby account I can access thanks to the TPL.

Engaging with the tech industry is nice, but doing so with the technical community is fundamental. The Internet is a global network of networks; there's no way you can break it "just a little" without affecting the entire network. Not to speak about the chilling effects, and unintended consequences.

Does that mean I can admit I was yet to leave high-school? I was involved in WSIS+10, though.
