So to get real high speed rail you need a dedicated network, and the problem is where to put it and who pays for it. We kinda have a system in development here in CA, but it’s faced a lot of opposition, overruns and delays, and not helped at all by the current regime.

It’s…complicated. We do have an extensive rail network. But aside from a portion of HSR in the northeast (called the Northeast Corridor) owned by Amtrak, everything else is owned by freight RRs, and not suitable for high speed rail. Amtrak is a tenant on the freight RRs, but gets 2nd tier.

He’s talking about the catapults aircraft carriers use to launch planes. Historically they used steam, but new Ford class carriers use EMALS cats, using electromagnetic tech instead. Teething troubles, but more efficient and less wear on the planes. But DT is stuck in the dark ages.

It feels like we’ve painted ourselves into a corner with the F-35. Ongoing issues deep into production, and in the meantime legacy platforms are quickly aging out. Would it make sense to cut the F-35 buy and go in on the F-15EX, Block 70 Viper, and Super Hornet for more bang for the buck?

As a lifelong dem I agree with you fully. The current “let’s play nice” Democratic Party has no backbone and can’t read the room. We need bold leadership that’s ready to push back, not a furrowed brow and strongly worded letter.

This. Fellow resident, and I had no idea there were “riots” until I happened to turn on the TV and saw the burning car by the donut shop. The WH is blowing this waaaaaaayyy out of proportion as an excuse to attack California.
