Would you like to do a videogame with me?

I’m making Gravity Break, a top-down space game about rockets collecting cheese for cybernetic mice from robo-enslaved cows. Cute looks, deep gameplay, silly characters.

The game is a demo of an upcoming top-down freelancer with simple controls and gravitational physics.

A simulated economy creates dynamic choices as you make money from trading and mining.

Upgrade your ship with a laser or a better engine as you earn your stripes.

Fly faster, reach further.

He is looking for your technology, and doesn’t want to share it.

Will you be able to stop him before the Earth falls? How will the planet recover from the ails of interplanetary bombardment?

What will you do for the surviving colonies that broke out of the well?

Meanwhile, Captain Croissant, a human like yourself who has learned how to survive, has intercepted a shipment of analytical equipment from Venus. He has sent a squadron of Miniroids to hold you back and keep you from making contact with the other planets while he assaults the Earth.

On Mars, a batch of linked hive-mind laboratory apes are preparing for the arrival of the human delegation. They are planning to assimilate anyone who lands.

In the clouds of Venus, dolphins are perfecting the art of flight, researching anti-gravity technology and exploring cosmos.

What would you like to do, if you got your own spaceship and had the chance to leave Earth?

I wanted to make a gameloop utilizing gravity and economy, linking your financial decisions to the physical world. I think it plays very well now.

It is a well-known fact that the moon is made of cheese, so if you think you have what it takes, why not become an intergalactic cheese trader in @spacebak.bsky.social's physics based Gravity Break?
It's cheese and rocket science!

When I pitched my concept to a kid in Amsterdam in 2022, and I asked him what he would do if he had his own rocket, he exclaimed:
“Build a paradise!”

That got me thinking. How do we make sure our future in cosmos will be good?

Energy is never unlimited. There will always be a cost in increased output. How do we balance that?
