It was said that Cushing was so checked out during the making of Horror Express due to grief that Lee put in the extra effort to carry him in their scenes together. It goes to show how great an actor Cushing was, that even when not giving his 100%, he is better than 99% of other actors.

The old school studio system at the very least cared about entertaining their audience and getting to come and see their films. The Netflixs of the world just want to release stuff that's just about "good enough" to stop you unsubscribing.

And it's why low budget and/or under the radar genre are the best. I can't imagine a modern mainstream movie getting that nasty or bleak.

I thought this was a movie that was forgotten, rather than dismissed, but then I checked the rotten tomatoes score. This deserves far higher than 20%. An interesting riff on Jaws with Waterson in the Brody role, DeMunn as a composite of Hooper and Quint, and outbreak replacing the shark.

Man, it's great to know that Ardal O'Hanlon is a good egg. It's nice to see that outside of Linehan, the Father Ted crew seems to be pretty cool people. The less said about The IT Crowd though the better.
