What the fuck? This is real. An obscure Japanese fever dream of an adventure game was removed from the Internet Archives and will get you slapped with a DMRC if you upload footage of it to YouTube.

Why would someone want to remove all traces of such an unknown game from the internet? Has the IP for the game been purchased, with the view to republishing the game on modern systems? Or is somebody really keen to use the name 'Cookie’s Bustle' in a new context? Or, perhaps, someone hated the game so much due to its intense difficulty and obtuse puzzles that they simply want to remove it from existence?

This box popped up on my YouTube Studio dashboard the day after I was allowed to post again. Which is pretty rich. What's even richer is that I can't dismiss the box without clicking "Apply now." There's no X for close; clicking outside the box does nothing. What the fuck.

I forgot how hard the Space Quest Collection leaflet went after Space Quest I VGA.
Space Quest VGA (September 1990). In a monumentally bad move, some genius from the marketing Department thought it might be a good idea to blow the dust off the original Space Quest and "update" it for re-release. True to form, this cheesy idea quickly turned to limburger when an artist genius decided to redo the game graphics with a "1950's B-movie feel." The resulting product actually looks better than the original in spite of this, probably because of the move to 256-color VGA Graphics. This Space Quest also sounds better than the original, thanks to music card support, and the mouse control works better since you can actually use it. If you've got nothing better to do, taking the time to compare this version with the original will give you some feel for the progress made in computer game technology over the half-decade since the original was built. It will definitely make you wonder why anybody even bothered to redo the project in the first place.

Wow. YouTube managed to "carefully review" my appeal in less than 10 minutes. Unsurprisingly, it is not in my favor. I'm sure there was a real human behind this decision.
Email from YouTube that reads: "Hi Space Quest Historian, We have reviewed your appeal for the following: Video: I got screwed by Rednex... so we decompiled their game We reviewed your content carefully, and have confirmed that it violates our sex and nudity policy. We know this is probably disappointing news, but it's our job to make sure that YouTube is a safe place for all."

Rednex's publisher has decided that me playing their game, which included 10 seconds of their music in-game, was not "fair use." Even though it quite clearly is. Another case of YouTube's copyright system being absolutely broken as fuck. I have no choice but to relinquish monetization of that video.
