Honourable mention: Hotel Rwanda (or the documentry Shake Hands With The Devil) is a good replacement for Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

The Thing used to be my #1 pick for Halloween, but this year i picked the HBO miniseries Chernobyl. hard to watch and reminds me of where the USA is headed.
