Recovering journalist and paleoanthropology geek who feeds many animals. Please, no DMs. I'm old, creaky and married. Also, the Oxford comma is overrated.
Goleta boy here. This warms my soul.

I remember this shot. Beautiful.

Bold little buggers, too.

It’s always an occasion. This time it’s for my daughter’s birthday. These were done on a Weber Smokey Mountain at roughly 275° for 5 hours.

Beautiful. Let’s eat.

Timothy Bottoms wrote a sweet little book about fishing in Santa Barbara called “The Pier.” My book club read it and will be meeting him tonight. Can’t wait.

Exquisite album that sent rock on a new trajectory. For me, “Eleanor Rigby” was the song that really made me realize *anything* was possible.

God I hate it when I agree with George Will.

I'm married to someone who has more than 100 squirrel tchotchkes, S&P shakers, plates, pillows and more. I have yet to count our squirrel ornaments, but they are legion and in a secure location in our garage.

That turkey looks like it was carved by a drunk toddler.

She went to the dog park this morning. She spends her time there *sprinting* and barking. Fastest basset I’ve ever seen.

Oh, now I remember Fenway. Butters came from Mission Viejo. Maybe there’s some rogue boy making little bassets on the mean streets of OC.

This is Butters. Got her from a rescue group a year ago. My sixth basset. She is the best.

You had me till the Oxford comma. Take this one out and it means exactly the same thing. No chance of misunderstanding. For every "eats, shoots, and leaves" there are about a million like this. The OC-or-die fan club is a cult.

I spent a couple of years in our newsroom’s 100-sq-ft smoking room (no ventilation) and I’m pretty sure it rewrote my DNA to say CANCER BOY.

I love Portland. Wonderful city. Used to live across the river in Vancouver.
November 8, 2025 at 5:56 AM
Ooh. My son is in Portland. I’ll have to visit next time I’m up.
November 8, 2025 at 2:44 AM
Whoa. I kinda like it.
November 8, 2025 at 1:06 AM
Beautiful.
