Like, Al will very happily do (almost) anything requested of him for someone he cares about...But that's the thing, it HAS to be a request - the second he can't turn something down, he immediately starts plotting to get out if it.

...even though they've been acting exactly LIKE servants i.e. obviously preforming tasks while obfuscating their actual existence as much as possible. And will also get mad at YOU if you acknowledge them too much.

And it seems arbitrary until you realize that THEY were considering themselves a member of the family the whole time, so they've naturally taken insult at the fact that YOU'VE apparently been thinking of them as servants!

Look, the magic nonsense he doesn't believe in said it was their destiny to Play Card Games Forever! And unfortunately for the universe, Card Games are the only tool Kaiba has to process his emotions. So. He's going to make sure they don't welch out if it kills him (and possibly everyone else)!

God it's insane that's the canon ending - that man got so obsessed he CREATED A FULL AI DUPLICATE and when that rang hollow he just, pulled a reverse Orpheus. Like, a grief counselor would have saved everyone a whole heap of trouble but you do have to respect the audacity! He built a SPACE ELEVATOR!

That being said, I DON'T think the sign is part of that subtext. I think you're right in that it's basically meant to be the equivalent of a "No Girls Allowed" sign - The point of it is that these two grown men are bickering like children (and their conflicts are therefore, sub-textually, play).

Or how sinners are "garbage" or "violent psychopaths out to spread violence and chaos". It's not a 1-1 on Earth racism, but it's definitely coming from a similar place of "this group of people is FUNDAMENTALLY bad and therefore beneath me".

Eh, there's definitely some allegorical racist/classicist undertones to how they write Lucifer interacting w/ Sinners & Alastor specifically. The whole busboy/bellhop thing, for instance (kinda automatically talking down to Al by identifying him as "the help").-

But flashback Alastor IS! Given Al's touch sensitivity, that implies, to me, that *something* happened to Al in the interim that's caused him to mentally alienate himself from HIS OWN LIMBS.
