As someone who works with satellite and 3D imagery, this project reinforced how crucial it is to question what’s rendered as truth.

Keep an eye out for some follow ups in different mediums looking ahead

How a Scottish maritime museum ended up in Israel’s 3D propaganda
An analysis of dozens of Israeli army animations discovered digital assets sourced not from classified intelligence but commercial libraries and content creators.

this is indeed a direct response to that person who said we should abandon trans folk because “ppl won’t die on that hill, it’s not a winning political strategy”

Me. I will die on that hill. We leave nobody on the tracks.

the only solution here is to point out that no minority group is causing shit. What’s causing problems is an exploitative system geared at making some people richer than god at the expense of everyone else

labour/democrats/whoever are not losing because they’re discussing supporting trans people. they’re losing because they agreed, by engaging in the argument at all, with the premise that some minority groups can be blamed for social problems.

it’s only ever going to be a question of who is blamed.

the answer to the trolley problem is not to pick who to sacrifice, it’s to dismantle the system that led to an unsafe trolley crossing.

if any part of your morality strategy involves picking a group to let die on a hill, throw the entire strategy out. it’s wrong.

Trans rights are civil rights. If you aren't willing to die on the hill of trans rights, then you aren't willing to die on the hill of Black rights. Of Jewish rights. Of disabled rights. Of gay rights. Of anyone's rights. Human rights.

I hate to say it but the majority of the country is not going to die on the hill of trans rights. We can’t protect ANY groups if we can’t win a national election, so purity tests only serve to make specific groups feel triumphant. That’s not “erasing” them; it’s long-horizon strategy.

About the only film I like is Fincher's Zodiac, because the focus isn't on the actual guy (whomever it is), but on the investigation, on the impacts of his murders. There's dread and unease, and even when you see one possible suspect's face....he's ordinary.

Ah, that's why I was thinking he did this one. Even then, I've been uncomfortable w/ Murphy's output for a while, so I had assumed this in the same area - given the article by Autostraddle, I can see I was right to give it a miss.

So last night I migrated @gregpak.net from Bluesky to Blacksky's myatproto.social server for non-Black users! A few thoughts on the process for anyone thinking about this...

whew. that took a while! but it looks like i'm done! all blobbed up in blobtown!
screenshot of a notice that says "You are good to go! You have all 4131 of the expected 3669 blobs. You're done!!"

Ah, my mistake, I was conflating it with something else of his, then. Looking at his wiki, apparently he co-created Glee.

I've come to dislike Ryan Murphy's work, and this one in particular, aside from being not good at all, also throws in cross-dressing and suggests Gein wanted to be a woman, neither of which were the case, so another dangerous transphobic element is employed here: www.autostraddle.com/ed-gein-neve...

I don't know if I show up as deactivated for anyone, but if I do, it's because I've shifted to @spectralthrum.myatproto.social.

The one good thing is how Nick Clegg has managed to get *everyone* to hate him, which, good job.
spectralthrum.myatproto.social
Ah, is that all? *Hops into a time machine, get his parents to move to Dublin rather than London before having him*
spectralthrum.myatproto.social
I saw that and went "Oh come on...!" Almost every sentence in his wiki entry basically answers the "Oh, so*that's* how" question, pretty on the nose, too.

I cannot understand what these people think the purpose of human life is?

It is *not* "pursue joy, deal justly, love well, try to understand as much and see as much of this beautiful world and of the deepness, richness and variety of human culture and experience as you can before you die"?

How is this repeatedly made into a policy issue - by *all* parties - when the blunt fact of the matter is that grown adults who are obliged to pay for their own education, and relentlessly pursued to repay their loans, should be able to study whatever the fuck they want.

All I knew of Finkelstein was/is his "The Holocaust Industry", which over the years I've found to be shallow, but I'd never found him worthwhile, esp. after he defended David Irving and went on about "wokeism". That he's a racist is unsurprising and yes, he got a pass for way too long.
spectralthrum.myatproto.social
Hah but yours were more succint! And yes we can dream - the infrastructure (tangible and otherwise) is ramshackle (hence the non-UK scaffolding mention), but it *can* be done, and it can be done if we were all to sit down and start sketching it all out, heck, from today onwards.
