games and software since 2024 -- try Dolphin Splash! for the Playdate handheld
Update: So if anyone runs into something similar, `fwidth` (and I presume `dFdx`, `dFdy` as well) gives a coarser result on my laptops' intel card w.r.t. my nvidia card. I'd figured this out already, but didn't think through _all_ of the implications.

... also don't post images with transparency apparently, at least not with black text over it 🤦

You can see why I might want to use the above in this clip. #godot

Oh good, it was an easy fix 😁

(For those that like to know: I just had to set the look-at up-vector to global up instead of the camera's, and also do a look-at when the position changes, not just when the look-at does.)

I like that imagery: In a way, the process is not dissimilar; you take some textures you like, and arrange them in a grid. -- Here I am, quilting in code.

An interesting point is, I think; how much do you work on making the editor your own to speed up other processes versus ... 'actually' working on the game?

The above is the result of rolling my own in-editor tooling via the 'tool' modifier in #godot -- I should make a point to actually run the the actual game at least occasionally though, because I think it now crashes when I do ... 😅

P.S. Ah, I almost forgot to mention that I wrote a small part of the code for the achievement library that makes this possible!

(Done on my personal account, 'bremco' -- Spelbaar doesn't really have a separate github account yet...)

... but it's just neat to see a community-driven project like this!

It showcases what an open platform like the Playdate can bring to gamedev.

Lastly, I know achievements aren't everyone's cup of tea -- I've seen some argue that it can reduce part of the experience and immersion.

While I don't agree fully, it's easy to see where they're coming from.

For more information, the Trophy Viewer app, as well as games by other devs that support this system, visit:

Note that a fair amount of those other devs' games will also be on sale!

This time we swapped out GMTK for Ludum Dare (my original stomping grounds) -- very 'full circle' for the 10 year thing.

It's a hybrid card-game / 'dig for treasure' type deal. Perfectly cromulent and a good one to end 10 years on.

The misspelling in the title isn't my fault for a change ;-)
