My favorite time of day to shoot birds in flight is midday. It's counterintuitive to think midday can produce the best results due to the harsh sunlight. However, BIF photography is perfect for this because it helps keep the ISO low

Sometimes you just get lucky. My most recent trip to Everglades National Park, FL was a bit disappointing, or so I thought. On our drive out of the park, this Red-shouldered Hawk was perched on a post directly next to the road. Right place right time!

Black Vultures have this horrific beauty about them. I love Vultures in general. This one was photographed at Conowingo Dam, MD, which is well known for its Bald Eagle migration. However, if you also like Vultures, this surely is the place for you!

There is a red-tailed hawk that lives at one of the local parks in my area. Unlike most wildlife, this hawk is very used to humans, so you are able to get extremely close! I was able to get within arms reach one time, which was one of the greatest experiences of my life.

I experienced a truly special moment last year at Pine Run Reservoir, Doylestown, PA. A Great Blue Heron flew straight toward me, trying to take another Herons feeding spot. My lens caught the two herons mid-flight, fierce and synchronized.
