gamescom asia is over! Some highlights include:

- Getting stuck in the Bangkok metro during rush hour while trying to catch a flight (not recommended)
- No way of turning off the AC and catching a cold while it's 32°C outside

More impressions from gamescom! And new things I learned:
- It's a lot less stressful when you have somewhat of a plan
- East/West entrance only exists for entering and then disappears
- Cologne kinda beautiful
- Playing long boardgames on the train is not ideal
- I am not able to look angry ò-ó

Yooo last week we hosted our first Indie #gamedev Hangout with creAT and it was an absolute blast! It's sooo cool getting all those talented people together to have a little Indie LAN party :3
Really hope we get to do his again in the future ^^

Had a super awesome time with our creAT indie games area at Austria Comic Con! Feels really good to get all those amazing #gamedev together to showcase their projects :3

Two weeks ago we launched the WE ARE Workshops 2025 by Gold Extra with a game ideation intro!

We ended with cats challenging zombies in ping pong tournaments to collect hair balls so I'm counting this as an astounding success ^^

I also knew I wanted to have heavy asymmetry in the gameplay with different characters and a somewhat strategic layer on top of the dexterity-based core loop. So you basically mix two sets of spells from fantasy archetypes (e.g. Pyromancer and Paladin) which you can mix and match during a session.

At that time games like Catacombs and Flick'em Up were trending (yeah I've been at this prototype for a while) so I borrowed some of the "shooting with even smaller disks" ideas. I have also been playing a lot of Magic at that time so that probably influenced the whole having a deck of spells idea.

I think the core inspiration came from my desire to create something that doesn't need a dedicated board, where your actual table and the things on it become the playing field. So creating a flicking game seemed like a very natural choice!

You start by mixing two sets of spells from different archetypes together, and then battle it out by (more or less) dexterously handling your business directly on the table.

One of my oldest #boardgame prototypes has the working title "Flippin Mages" - it's a flicking dexterity game that pitches two or more players against each other in a spell-slinging, disk-flicking showdown.
