He’s playing with his thumb on his right hand, which is part of how he gets his warm tone! The guitar is actually set up pretty bright for a jazz tone

There’s also the fact that he’s playing octaves in unison, if that’s what you’re hearing. And a hollow-body guitar will emphasize certain overtones.
