My favorite thing I found though (in the tailing pile) is this "cube" of calcite layered very artistically in veins within matrix. And look what happens when I hit it with the black light! Nature is an artist

So I didn't find anything too spectacular yesterday, just a kind of unattractive quartz node and some crystal bits. The most exciting thing I picked up I didn't even technically find myself. The quartz point piece here I found in the parking area, and probably fell out of some other rockhound's find

We actually got some rockhounding in while we were camping this year! The beach at the place we stayed had lovely little crystals from the zeolite family (thomsonite?) that formed as nodules and veins in basalt
