If anyone is still reading this and is looking at what leadership looks like for them, I am here to chat, happy to help, I have been a leader for more than a decade, and made plenty of mistakes along the way. We need good leaders, so if you choose it, please choose it because you love it.

If you want to pursue a career in people leadership, ensure you have a support system and receive proper training. This is a new set of skills you have to learn, and as much as you hated that one boss, "I could do better" is not the mentality because you currently know how to manage yourself better.

For my nerds/geeks pondering leadership, make sure you are intentional about it; do not let a manager talk you into it. It is very different from what you know, and it is harder than writing code by a long shot. I knew what I wanted getting in so I feel good but I was also not supported.

Listen, I love being a leader. I love the energy of my teams, getting to know so many amazing personalities, and doing the best I can to bring out the best in them. Having said that, I often miss writing code and being the nerd in the corner with headphones.
