Good article, but grass wearing away didn't exist in Wild World - it wasn't added until City Folk! nookipedia.com/wiki/Animal_...

I remember arguing with my siblings, trying to make sure no one ran in City Folk (and being annoyed with the new feature)
Animal tracks
Animal tracks are an environmental feature occurring in both Animal Crossing: City Folk and Animal Crossing: New Leaf where the grass in the player's town slowly...

I choose to believe that he's slowly feeding it 12 inch subs like logs into a wood chipper

I have no idea why you would do any version of this though

To me there are a lot of things, how the training data was obtained, how much energy it takes, the intentionality of the algorithm (is it actually doing something you control or is it a magic black box) , etc.

But at the end of the day I don't have a concrete metric and it's really a personal call

Congrats!

Oh, how is SDL_GPU? I started looking at it instead of trying to do Vulkan for a hobby project

I saw you already had a solution, but if it helps you can use the child actor component to automate the spawning of another sub-actor. Iirc one benefit is that you can move the sub-actor in the viewport as well

Sorry - I'm not trying to pick a fight I just thought you misunderstood something

I mean this in the politest way possible, but I think you've misread what @matthijs-den-daas.bsky.social said. They're saying that just because some disabled people beat a game that does not mean all disabled people can beat a game. They didn't say anything about gen AI

If you're comfortable with C++, adding a custom picker to a property is pretty straightforward. @unreal-garden.com has a nice explainer here: unreal-garden.com/docs/uproper...

Not even remotely correct. FF16 is not a competitive game, the whole goal is to destroy the crystals not steal them back, the main character is not the "True King"

Seconding this one!

I like it, but I'm pretty biased since I worked on it 😆

Oh, yeah! If it's part of the premise or basic knowledge about the game (like DK getting costumes is a major feature!) then I don't consider it a spoiler, even it's a departure from the series.
June 18, 2025 at 8:31 PM
Though maybe someone would be surprised that the final boss is DK's dad or something and that'd be a spoiler to them, I dunno lol
June 18, 2025 at 8:26 PM
But that's *generally* speaking. I don't think DK: Bananza will have any significant plot other than DK wants his bananas and Pauline wants to leave 🙂

If Nintendo has a twist ending where Donkey Kong dies at the end of Bananza, and you told me before I played I'd consider that a spoiler
June 18, 2025 at 8:26 PM
I think every new game is its own thing and you can play like it's your first ever experience with the series - that doesn't preclude you from having the story spoiled
June 18, 2025 at 8:26 PM
Like I'd consider it a spoiler if you told me at the end of DQ: 25 that the villain was actually your dad because if it's a meaningful twist within that entry's story, even if the story beats are the same as the other 24 entries in the series

...unless the villain in *every* game was your dad
June 18, 2025 at 8:14 PM
I think you can have spoilers within an individual story regardless of the series lore, though I guess it'd have to be a somewhat engaging story and I personally am not expecting any deep story within DK: Bananza

"Hey boss, I fixed that issue where a random fault _might_ cause a crash?"
"Oh good, so the car won't crash now?"
"You're not gonna believe this, but..."

I'm jealous! When did you place your order? I placed my order on May 10th and it's still stuck on "Preparing to ship"
