Continuing my TD trek with Finnegan’s Wake. Overall a pretty good listen. Nothing really grabbed me but had some good moments. Would listen to again but it was a bit middle of the road

@jackpackard.bsky.social returns on the Christmas @redlettermedia.com BOTW this year! Always a good time when Jack shows up

I keep being surprised in this later area of TD. The Angel of the West Window was surprisingly good. It may be my fav album from the 90’s and later. I’ll be sure to be checking it out quite a bit more

Wasn’t sure what to expect on my next TD album: Chandra-The Phantom Ferry pt 1. But I quite enjoyed it. Felt like older stuff while sounding modern. Had more energy that most of what I’ve been listening to lately. Worth a relisten in the future

Finished up the 4 TD grouping with Winter in Hiroshima. Vocals didn’t bother me as much as I thought and it was nice to hear some prominent guitar again. But it felt flat for most of it. I feel the Nagasaki albums are more for me
December 17, 2025 at 2:58 PM
Might as well continue this TD set with Autumn in Hiroshima. My fav of this grouping so far. Odd that the rare use of vocals didn’t bother me. Really like the sound of it. Will be one I’ll be revisiting soon. Not as good as earlier stuff but I doubt much newer stuff will be much better

Next TD album for me is Views from a Red Train. It had a some nice moments and has a nice feeling. Way too long and not very memorable. Perfect for putting on in the background tho
December 16, 2025 at 7:11 PM
Next for TD was Springtime in Nagasaki (yes I heard them in reverse order). I liked it much more than Summer and liked the long songs being there. But again it felt like it was missing something
December 16, 2025 at 1:36 PM
Moved on to Summer in Nagasaki and it’s ok. Some nice passages but much was not memorable. It was nice to have long songs again. Some are hypnotic but not in a way that kept me engaged. I’d call it a lesser TD album for me but could be worse
December 15, 2025 at 8:13 PM
I realized I’ve missed several TD albums so I’ll have to go back to check them out. In the meantime I checked out The Great Wall of China and again not for me. Some of the electronic usage just sounds cheap. Not one I’ll be revisiting

Another #LNGH and this time we got Santa Sangre! Fun to see with a group! @destroythebrain.com

Iced up next? Oh boy 😅 this is something for those who haven’t seen it yet. Cant wait to see the reactions #TheLastDriveIn @therealjoebob123.bsky.social @darcythemailgirl.bsky.social

Just now getting home to watch #TheLastDriveIn because I saw The Shining in IMAX. I hope it can be forgiven for my tardiness 😇 @therealjoebob123.bsky.social @darcythemailgirl.bsky.social

Once again I skipped a TD album. Optical Race was again a nice surprise. However the shorter songs made it feel longer of an album than it needed to be. But at least it was a nice listen
December 12, 2025 at 9:16 PM
Lily on the Beach really surprised me. After the previous TD album I had low hopes for this one but I actually liked it quite a bit. With so many shorter songs, it felt it went on a bit long, but some nice points. Odd to hear sax for once
December 12, 2025 at 8:21 PM
Continuing my trek thru TD and next is Tyger which is my least fav album of theirs so far. Maybe it’s the use of vocals, maybe it’s the dated sound. Either way it’s the first I didn’t find interesting and the first I couldn’t wait to get past
December 12, 2025 at 6:13 PM
Underwater Sunlight has some of the most thematic moments that tie in with its album name in all of TD’s discography. The piano segment was a bit jarring but nice. Definitely some moments when I could hear this at home in an aquarium.
December 11, 2025 at 9:47 PM
Up next was Green Desert and it’s a decent chill entry from TD. Listenable mood pieces that mostly feel pretty coherent. Won’t blow you away but good stuff to listen to
December 11, 2025 at 8:39 PM
Next TD album is Le Parc and sure it may be a step down for most but I enjoyed it. The shorter song lengths was a bit of a new touch that caught me off guard but it also felt a little tighter with them. On the other hand it felt more like ideas than complete songs at times

The TD live album Poland was next on my list and it’s.. fine? Wasn’t bad, wasn’t great. Perfectly fine to have on while working but nothing jumped out as amazing. Could do worse, but they’ve done better
December 11, 2025 at 3:26 PM
Somehow I skipped Exit. Not sure I’ve listened to it before but it’s also pretty good. Shorter tracks was an interesting choice but still sounds like a good TD album. Again reminds me of a soundtrack
December 10, 2025 at 7:43 PM
Hyperborea is decent for TD. It’s definitely sitting nicely in the early 80’s but for a non soundtrack album, it sure sounds like one at times. That being said, some really nice moments
December 10, 2025 at 5:09 PM
I keep saying I’m not looking at many live albums but Logos I couldn’t pass up. Very listenable and reminds me of a soundtrack at times. Definitely gives a glimpse of where TD would go in the 80’s
December 10, 2025 at 4:10 PM
Remember liking White Eagle more than I do now. When it hits, it hits good. But Mojave Plan feels like we’re going back to the experimental early days a bit much at times. Some good moments but I prefer side 2. Good TD album tho
December 10, 2025 at 3:13 PM
Tangram was the next TD album and once again its peak TD. Two side long tracks with no frills. Again it feels like they ran out of steam on side 2 with the last 5 minutes maybe being used in a better way. But overall it’s really good
