damn!

i just saw an article header about a seemingly innocent book getting banned and it triggered my fight or flight

think about the silent hill film! an adaptation based on a game which used kindergarten cop and jacob's ladder (amongst many other films) as inspiration! what an interesting premise it was to see what happened when those worlds returned to the screen in a twisted, malformed way.

yeah some adaptations are amazing and do it great! but i'm happy with adaptations that give me the gist, maybe do its own thing whilst slipping in some 'this thing relates to the original media!' like background elements and character names and plot points. stop expecting identical replicas istg.

we should make that three times :)
