National Sporting Heritage Day, 30th Sept #NSHD2025
Touring exhibitions reached diverse audiences nationwide, with 37 volunteers involved. For the first time, a comprehensive timeline of rounders' history and a new national archive collection have been created, safeguarding items once at risk of being lost.

These collections are transnational and involve a huge international collaboration across the IIPC membership and public nominations from GLAM sector colleagues and sports enthusiasts. So far, the IIPC has preserved web content for eight events over fourteen years.

The IIPC has been archiving Olympic websites since 2010 & Paralympic websites since 2012. Before the Content Development Group (CDG) was established in 2015, these were separate collections. Since 2016, they have been merged into one collection.

There’s no single “right” approach. The best choice depends on what you collect, how you want people to use it, and whether you’re managing artefacts, archives, or both.

Museums are usually curator-led, collecting individual objects around themes or time periods and interpreting them through exhibitions.

Archives are research-driven, keeping material together in its original order and allowing users to explore collections first-hand with minimal interpretation.
