Well, with an overnight low of 5°F and a high of 35°F we are frozen in. Too afraid of losing control of the car and having it end up in the pond off our icy driveway. But the #PolarVortex can't last for ever. Can it? Save us, Monty Don! You're our only hope! #Gardening2026 #GardenersWorld #BBC

Welcome to the world my little babies! You are going to have a very long and interesting life here at our home and in our garden. I'm already looking forward to potting you on in a couple of weeks. #AdventureAwaits #Dahlias #gardening #growingfromseed

Our next app has entered beta testing ahead of schedule. If brands like #Rolex or #TagHeuer set your pulse racing, then you will be in for a treat.

It’s going to be cold this week in the foothills. Like #Norway cold, but without the #kanelsnurren and #Freia chocolate, both of which will be missed. We have a lot of #gardening prep to do, including renovating 2/8 raised beds, adding height and new soil using the #Hügelkultur method. Stay tuned…

If they weren’t before, after the storm and the subsequent cold, your seeds are properly vernalized. Milkweed and other perennials requiring the process can now be planted or started inside. Time to start #gardening For more tips like this check out my app: apps.apple.com/app/growzone...

Walking the property during the ice storm, I learned: uncut grasses are good for determining sleet from freezing rain. Are they standing? Sleet. Are they drooping or smashed? Freezing rain. Don’t disturb any piles of hay twigs or approach thick bushes. They are full of critters and birds. #Gardening

I plan to run another underground line in 1.5" conduit, 8g wire x4 that will handle 240v to the greenhouse in Spring.
Mistakes made: Calc sq ft of floor not total exposed area of greenhouse. Going with 3/4" conduit. Underestimating heat loss. Overestimating plant cold tolerance. #Greenhouse

The wife has thought I had been trying to save money by limiting the heat in the greenhouse. She didn't understand the BTUs she required to maintain tropical plants at 55°+ with a low of 10° required 20,000 BTUs of heat - not possible with 120v heaters. (1of2)

Emptied two hobby greenhouses and brought the plants inside in case we lose power. This song has been playing on repeat inside my head all day as I walk through the house. Stay warm everyone.

#Icestorm preparations are wrapping up. While picking up some things, I found these. #Dahlias The storm is coming. It will pass. It will be very cold. But it will not last forever. #Spring is coming & there's an app for that. apps.apple.com/us/app/growz...

Living in a rural area has taught me why #ruralpeople are more religious: The weather they depend on for their livelihood is out of their hands. The danger they face everyday with machinery and saws is frightening. Even the roads are deadlier on a per-mile basis. Yet it is so beautiful. Stay safe.

The first app was only 600 lines of code, but took 3 months from concept to delivery. The 2nd app was 20x bigger, and took 2 months. The next, apps.apple.com/us/app/penfo..., was 15,000 and only took 6 weeks. I’d like to deliver the next in 1 month, but only without compromising quality.

Today is #seaweedsaturday for our indoor and greenhouse plants. One thing #GardenersWorld has taught us is the importance of weekly feeding, even during the winter. I need to emphasize that more in the GrowZone app, so will add that to the planned upgrade. apps.apple.com/us/app/growz...

It's live. I want to thank all the kind people on the www.reddit.com/r/fountainpe... subreddit who inspired me during development. I hope this app meets their high standards and proves useful. It was a pleasure to design and build. And they converted me to the hobby.

#fountainpen collectors: Our latest app, #Penfolio, is under review at the App Store. Your passion for your tools and your craft is contagious, and turned us into collectors and daily-carriers of fountain pens while designing.
Hopefully Penfolio will meet your high standards. More to come.

Started some #dahlia seeds today. "Unwins dwarf dahlia". It's a bit of a lottery to see whether a) I do it correctly, b) the plants germinate and c) what they look like. But hey, it's mid-January. I've got to do something #gardening related.

It's weird: I want to make money so that I can hire #creative people. I can't tell you how much time I've invested of my own, but all I care about right now is getting the next $400 to hire a #freelance graphics designer for my current project. I'd make a terrible #billionaire because of that.

I am pleased to announce the update of my first app, Online Auction Calculator. apps.apple.com/us/app/onlin... I had to do my own screenshots because I can't afford to hire a graphic designer for this app (and it shows, ugh). Thanks to l5.com for sponsoring it and making the app happen.

A reminder for 2026: Support #artists, #illustrators, #writers and #musicians. Not only through the corporate monopolies, but by buying their works directly from them or through niche venues. Contrary to what those corporations tell you, they are not replaceable by #AI. Spread the word. art u/pinlin

#Gardening 2025: Lesson #1. Don't overwater. These lovely dahlias are the 2nd bloom after the first in June got destroyed by fungus caused by... overwatering. Plants lie. Well maybe not all plants, but #dahlias sure do. They'd wilt and I'd water... and the result? Disease. Lesson learned. #dry2026
