I've only played 1 n64 game that actually felt good recently and it's F-Zero X which also feels very awful on emulator because of the short analog stick travel times of modern controllers. But playing something like Mario kart 64 just feels dreadful no matter what

the soldiers have a lot of appeal and subtle exaggeration to how they're animated that looks great on their stylized yet realistic models. it just reminds me how valve animates their characters which still hold up very well to this day because of the hand animated faces and subtly stylized models

I always assumed power ups and the such are spirits of some sort. And why they end up in boxes is because people put offerings (coins) to the spirits in them. But power stars feel distinctly different to starmen, maybe they're like distilled spirit energy or something
