The cult lens works as a reading, but it's a limiting one I think. If I were hoping for a total reckoning for cult trauma, I would be less willing to engage with the character drama and the trans allegories within. The cult angle doesn't seem to go that far beyond tongue-in-cheek.
And it's hot chocolates all round: Pippa's drinking hers out of a mug that says, You're not supposed to ask if it's a cult.

I disagree, at least in terms of extremity. If we are looking at it through this passage, plus the lack of any David Reiner-esque examples in the aftermath of the progam, I think we have to take this text at its word - that none of the Dorley grads are 100% committed cis men
