Took Wildlife Conservation & Management 1st years to Loch of Strathbeg today. They excelled by finding a juv Glossy Ibis. Four Great White Egrets was also a popular sight.

Greenshank, Goshawk and Barnacle Geese as supporting acts.

23-year-old Jordan Duddy has been appointed contract farmer at SRUC’s Acrehead dairy farm after a competitive selection process.

She was officially welcomed to the role by Scotland’s Agriculture Minister @jimfairliesnp.bsky.social at a special handover event.

A new sensor developed through a UK-wide programme led by SRUC is helping dairy farmers prevent pneumonia in calves.

Pneumonitor tracks pen-level conditions at calf height and has moved from prototype to commercial product with support from the Digital Dairy Chain.

We’re pleased to announce Pauline Murray as the new Programme Director of the Digital Dairy Chain.

Pauline brings three years’ experience with the project and will lead the next phase of innovation across the dairy supply chain in South-West Scotland and Cumbria.

New students from the Wildlife and Conservation Management postgraduate programme took a trip out to Sands of Forvie NNR where they were joined by SRUC PhD student, Claire Stainfield, who told them all about her research into the Grey Seals that haul out there in large numbers.
