IT'S SO DEPRESSING

"Let's all celebrate Spock DYING right in front of us!"

Why would they make that an ORNAMENT

(The first Star Trek movie I saw on the big screen was III and it started with the flashback of him dying - it's SEARED into my childhood)

In Windows I map the drive once in Explorer and it's available to any app from then on. Easy, efficient, effective.

Linux should be no different. Powerful doesn't need to mean abstruse.

If you're saying I still shouldn't do the task, then the OS needs to be better at properly integrating Samba shares into the directory tree automatically. Sure they can be added to places in Dolphin, but then load an FTP client and try to use that link. You can't. You can't even smb://xxx.xxx it.

"If you need to do something complex the solution should be hard, dumbing down just makes you not learn it."

No. Stop. I have a task to do, and I want to do it right, but also in a reasonable amount of time w/a tool that provides me some guardrails. Or should I hand-edit every file to load the OS?

No. It's Linux that needs to up their game. Critical functions need easy to use tooling.
