Caught the RideOn 1 from Friendship Heights to Silver Spring! Ridership seemed very strong for an infrequent bus—I wonder if the free fares are making a difference.

Another month of US transit agency data is just in, and DC's WMATA remains the fastest-growing major US transit agency, with ridership up 13% compared to last year

Overall neutral, I think. If this results in new bike lanes getting built or better enforcement, maybe net positive.

After living with the new better bus routes for a few months, I find the new numbers more intuitive. I like how the downtown routes increase from east to west to give a sense of the route!

Progress on the Silver Spring @purplelinemd.bsky.social station! The silver structures will house the stairs and elevator to/from street level. The station is part of the bus/transit center next to the metro station.

I was in Pittsburgh last weekend and got too check out some bike infrastructure! Some good stuff out there, and much of the city is a good density for biking.

Scenes from the Amtrak Cardinal last week! I rode from DC to West Virginia. The Cardinal starts takes a slow route through the mountains west from the northeast corridor, reaching Cincinnati overnight and Chicago the next day.

I love the eyes on MARC cab cars 😅 I don’t love that they run diesel trains on the electrified Penn Line 😢

Metro ridership at Navy Yard-Ballpark peaks on game days! The station sees ~18-22K riders for home games (32K on weekend opener), compared to ~8-10K on non-game weekdays (~5K weekends). 10-12K park-bound Metro riders is a bit under 50% of the 24K average attendance at Nat's park!
