I just read this! My sister died when I was 16 and this spoke beautifully to how everyone in the family grieves so differently and separately. ❤️

At the end of the book she says “I am going to tell you a story about a girl who didn’t want to belong.” Growing up I was also a bit like Esperanza. I moved dozens of times, and none of them were good neighborhoods or houses I was proud of. I longed for a “home” like other kids.

Yes! This is a great way of putting it. I love that each chapter is its own story and can be set apart from the previous and post chapters without interrupting the flow, but is still also still part of the story unlike a poem. It’s so beautifully down. It reminds me of a diary.
