There was a study done earlier this year that showed programmers using LLMs took 19% more time to complete their work. That’s writing code, which just needs to work correctly, not a book that needs to be understood while read. (Settings aside that good code should also be easy to understand.)

The point about AI training is that it is not a ghost in a machine learning by diligent study; it is massive corporate power expropriating work and asking to be excused from the law in exchange for goods it will not deliver and profit it will keep to itself.
