"More guests, how wonderful!" Sonya said, wiping her flour dusted sweaty forhead.
"It's just ten more people, I'm sure we'll manage." Her husband winked as he left & shut the front door behind him.
Sonya fell to the floor, her every joint on fire. She planned through tears to keep smiling. #WriteCBC

The sky was brown. The bridge wind cold. Solemn steps taken under the shine of the silvered bottle cap were interrupted by a familiar stench blown through my chest. Rogue shadows sprouted from beneath me. I ran, quickening with each step. But the silhouette of a hand never left my side. #Writecbc

Cleaning nan's things revealed a hidden compartment in her grey marble drawer. Searching for a glamorous keepsake, I found a bland journal instead. A coffee-stained napkin poked out. Curious, I flipped through the pages... empty, until I got to it - a bloody napkin. I threw it back & ran. #WriteCBC

Sirens cry in the distance. Cameras click-clack. Broken shards of glass sit in fractals, repeating patterns precisely laid on the floor. Their ragged edges catch the moonlight. Something precious was taken, replaced by a masterpiece. They say museum robberies are easy, but im not so sure.

"What's she doing?"
"Don't touch those!" I shouted over the Poirot-lookalike's shoulder.
"Don't mind Ma Chérie, we just moved in next door & will need you to change your fence, it's burning through our aesthetic, and those bushes will need to go too, and..."
"My petunias," I whimpered.

Dad was supposed to be dead. Gone in an accident shortly after my birth. I knew his face from photos but peeking through my curtain was the most vivid imagery of this man my mum had supposedly laid to rest. I sharply slid to my knees, back against the wall. He was coming - suitcase, body & all!

The cotton covers swamped in around me. Her tentacle-like locks, thick & black, pulled the light from my eyes, slowly dimming till cavernous. In her warmth, I shivered. Her rotten breath puffed louder till my soul tore away from its host, redemption for past sins I could no longer conceal. #writecbc

Rain poured grievingly. Hearing it, I stood in protest with the clouds. He ignored my stiff lips and stature and gripped my arm like a winning claw machine. Ramen, fish sticks and an array of grilling meats were drenched in temptation. But I couldn't...My body had been snatched from me. #writecbc
