Ground ball pitchers with a good infield defense are good. I doubt they can count on more than 20 or 25 starts from Houser however (most he’s ever made in the majors is 26). They need to add a lot more to the rotation IMO.

Also… 2 of Houser’s 3 outings where he did not allow any runs last season came vs the Giants during that brutal, sustained stretch of not scoring. Kinda random but maybe of note. He was pretty bad after the trade to TB.

Giants approach to free agency thus far…

Exactly my thoughts as well. He’s a useful 5 with a good infield defense behind him.

Good lord these are boring adds. I guess we know Buster’s types. Contact hitters and ground ball pitchers.

I am wholly opposed to that weak approach but the moves thus far point in that direction.

Sure feels like us fans are in for a letdown of an offseason. Between ownership not being willing to spend enough to compete (I know this is a contentious topic), the DBacks & Padres getting worse, and the impending lockout I do wonder if they will just hope to sneak into the playoffs w/this group.

They need to make a non-boring and non-frustrating move like yesterday.

It’s super cool how real estate projects are magically separate from the Giants franchise whenever the roster is brought into question but simultaneously connected when a buck can be made outside of 3rd & King.
December 1, 2025 at 11:03 PM
Right. I am hoping this is some sort of annoying posturing. I was (still am) hoping adding top-tier talent in Adames & Devers was the opening salvo. Not “welp, this is it”.

It’s still very early in the offseason but I did think Posey being at the helm would equate to aggressive roster building. It’s goddamn maddening to watch .500 teams every year when their revenues (even just the ones we can point to) HAVE to put them in the top-5 of teams league wide.

I got weird looks from my extended family when I said “give the guy a billion dollars as a contract offer… it doesn’t matter… you’ll make it back 10x over”.

And of course, that’s exactly what’s happening in LA.

You know what would be cool? If the competitive attitude towards increasing profits actually translated to a competitive attitude towards winning at sports.

Right? Weird.

Man I hope not. YouTube TV is nearly double the price it was just a few years ago, I don’t watch any of the other channels and I really don’t want to give $4 a month to FOX.
