Dudes, I’ve lived in Houston since 1994 and we’ve been in traffic purgatory since then.

Has anyone else noticed that lined running shorts are actually a Klein bottle?
Photo of an inside out pair of line running shorts that appears to have one continuous surface between the lining and the outside fabric, a structure hypothetically, only possible in four dimensional space.

We need to stop viewing our age as exceptional. People (including scientists) have been passionately wrong about the natural world for at least the history of the western world. As long as inquiry persists error gets corrected. What we need to advocate is continuing inquiry with minimum quackery.

"Once the rockets are up, who cares where they come down?
That's not my department!" says Wernher von Braun”

It’s not that no one cares, is that’s everyone knows. But the funniest part of this news is the idea of asking Ken Paxton to investigate someone else’s corruption.

I don’t think so, because you know where the glutes actually are.
staceyberg.bsky.social
Was just looking up an exercise (not with an AI search) and the AI results summary told me to focus on my front glute. I don’t think I learned about that one in anatomy class.

“Sapphire coated Jolly Ranchers” wins the science communication award of the week.

Also I just read @bethcato.bsky.social’s new book “A House Between Sea and Sky” and it was just the comfortable, comforting book for a week like this one.

Thanks for pointing out! There’s so much cool science everywhere, definitely including bird world.

The most surprising thing about this is that 50 years ago it was only half. The golden age some people hearken back to never was.

Hits the nail on the head: “Who is going to be checking the panties to be sure the right potty is used? …Will they hire someone already accused of checking panties?”
Yeah, the Texas Legislature passed a bathroom bill. But who'll enforce it?
Who'll make sure that your genitalia matches the sign on the door?

Why people think politicians are corrupt: The Texas Senate voted against delaying a groundwater grab on the same day the company behind it hired one of Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s top advisors as a lobbyist. Also hired: a key senator’s ex-staffer, & a former deputy chief of staff to Gov. Greg Abbott.
Company behind East Texas water grab hires Dan Patrick-linked lobbyist
Conservation Equity Management hired Allen Blakemore, a political consultant to Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, on the same day the legislation hit the Senate floor.
