I love that rat. Usually I hang a bulb on him, but it felt like too much this year. I prefer a more modest set-up for some reason.

Lynch enlisted in the Navy during the Civil War, in Boston, 5/15/1861. Served as an ordinary seaman on the U.S.S. Connecticut, honorary discharge 6/26/1862. For years I tried to find his grave and just found this but I can’t read where he is buried. New something. Can anyone read that word? 2/2

The worst part was to see the suffering and feel powerless to really help. French agonized about whether or not he was making a difference. Ferrying back to the city every night was like exiting the battlefield of a war he could do nothing to end. 2/2

About the response to send mobster Albert Gallo into Brooklyn to talk to a white racist gang starting trouble. “I would have sent the devil in if I thought it would have worked,” Davidoff said of their decision. They may not care what the police say, but they weren’t going to ignore Gallo. 3/3

“We were in unchartered territory, but one thing we knew was the police were not going to solve it. They always say the police are your first line of resistance. It’s actually your last line.” 2/3

I'm what they call a hospital veterinary assistant. I hold the animals for the techs, get vitals, etc. it depends on what shift I get. My favorite shift is "releases." All I do all day is return animals to their owners and explain whatever home care is needed. It's happiness all day long, mostly.
