Semiconductor manufacturing and data centers are growing explosively.

Does anyone else see the problem here? 🤔

Meanwhile, here's a headline that will freak the fossil fools out.👇

The findings include data from our "Greenwashing the Amazon" report, highlighting that financing from a small group of global banks (like Citibank, JP Morgan Chase, Itaú, Santander, and Bank of America) is among the main drivers of fossil fuel expansion in the Amazon.

The report is the result of more than a year of research, which included public hearings in Colombia and Peru — initiatives that Stand is proud to have contributed to, together with Indigenous Peoples, civil society organizations, scientific institutions, and government authorities.

From cancelling the Consumer Carbon Tax to expanding LNG export infrastructure to endangering free prior and informed consent for Indigenous Nations facing resource extraction, the BC NDP’s environmental reputation is in shambles.

Since getting re-elected, the BC NDP has been quietly stepping away from climate leadership.
Photo of Eby inflatable. Quote reads, "With the Legislative Assembly returning, the government of B.C. has a choice to make. Will they stand with future generations, or with the short-term profits of the fossil fuel industry? As this new session begins, we demand a genuine recommitment to climate action that respects First Nations title and rights and the rights of all our grandchildren to a livable planet. This means halting the expansion of fossil fuels and committing to a just transition that leaves no one behind." Attribution in bottom left corner reads “Grand Chief Stewart Phillip, UBCIC President”. Photo of Eby inflatable. Quote reads, "Cities see the cost of climate inaction rising every year. We need to see every level of government pull together to show leadership and ambition to protect all our communities from the impacts of climate change and invest in the transition. The future of our municipal communities depends on what government will do today." Attribution in bottom left corner reads “Susan Kim, Community Leader, City of Victoria”. Photo of Eby inflatable. Quote reads, "While families are struggling to breathe through wildfire smoke and to keep up with rent and groceries, this government is handing billions to fossil fuel corporations. It's time to stop bankrolling polluters and start investing in people - in affordable housing, renewable energy, healthcare and a thriving future. Every dollar poured into LNG takes us further from our climate goals and deeper into dependence on a dying industry." Background photo of a rushing river in B.C. Quote reads "As the fall session of government begins today, we are standing at a critical juncture for climate action in British Columbia. In the coming weeks, the B.C. government will release its CleanBC review report. This is supposed to be an honest assessment of whether we are on track to meet our climate targets. We already know the answer: we are not. But this report must be more than just another update. It must be a wake-up call-a moment of reckoning. Today, we are calling on the B.C. government to find the political courage to recommit to real climate leadership." Check out our latest op-ed on why Microsoft has a responsibility to communities to build out with renewable electricity - or not at all.

They’re energy vampires, each consuming enough electricity to power a small city, drink lakes worth of water, and are spreading like a rash across North America, threatening to lock in a large-scale growth in new fossil gas infrastructure.

AI “hyperscalers” are companies like Microsoft, Meta, Amazon and Google that are building MASSIVE (as in millions of square feet) warehouses to hold their servers, known as hyperscale data centers.
Microsoft’s AI boom is a climate threat Canada can’t ignore
The scale of Microsoft’s energy footprint matters because of the environmental consequences imposed on local communities.
