Raw footage is chaotic! Multiple angles, inconsistent lighting, environmental noise. Editing out the awkward and putting the clips in a planned sequence gives it meaning.

You also have to darken everything around the glow, making it the brightest part of the piece. Sometimes this can be a bit painful as you cover details you put effort and time into, but it ultimately elevates the artwork. You can't always put everything into one piece, quality over quantity.

Lighting was the hardest part. I could have used the various light brushes ProCreate comes with, but it wouldn't give me the control I wanted. I really do think the brush textures add so much to this piece even in the glowing areas.

Next was shading, which added depth to metal textures and giving the necron a 3D appearance. This part is slow, requiring hand made brush strokes, so that it had the textures I wanted. It keeps the piece feeling real.

My process started with blocking in the simple colors: white armor, black inner circuitry, gold plating. Getting the base right will help with the color contrast, making sure the piece remains readable.

My inspiration came from my personal Necron color scheme! White, gold, and rainbow glowing blades! I wanted my submission to be just like my minis, but with my digital art skills attached! (I wish I could paint the minis this well!)
