short downtime to update...

For anyone wondering why the TSN Minecraft server is struggling right now
hi it's me i am crashing the starlight network server :neocat_floof:

TSN will (most likely) experience some temporary issues as we upgrade Iocaine from 2.x/oldstable to 3.x/stable

(mostly because almost everything we host is hooked up to iocaine)

minecraft and drasl are unaffected.

Alright, we are going down. We'll be back shortly, promise!
Small PSA to anyone playing Minecraft on `starlightnet.work`

We will be moving the Minecraft server to `mine.starlightnet.work`, and to a new underlying VPS in the coming few hours. The server might be down in that time.

We will notify everyone here when it's back.

We have uploaded a configuration to run Authentik, the Identity Provider we use to provide OIDC and such, under Podman+Systemd using Quadlets, as we usually do with configurations we have to figure out ourselves

configurations
Noteworthy configurations, i.e anything custom that we do that isn't covered by another repository, will go here.

in the next ~5 Minutes or so, joining `starlightnet.work` on Minecraft will require nothing more than a Minecraft Java 1.21.10 instance.

It'll run Polymania, a modpack that works entirely without having to install _any_ mods. You _can_ , of course, but you aren't required to.

It has a small […]

hiya! TSN will be going down for the next coming hours to upgrade from Fedora 42 to Fedora 43.

Quite frankly, we completely forgot it released, but we need some newer package versions (i.e go 1.25 or later) for newer versions of our software and such.

The team is still at @alexia and @nelson […]

Google is rowing back their boat on plain disallowing "unverified" developers!

While they're saying they want to put it behind an "Advanced flow" and that they "are designing this flow specifically to resist coercion"

While this is still a step back from how it currently is, it is a step […]

We now have a _proper_ public frontend, so that when you link our posts others can see replies, reactions and other stats natively.

We've upgraded #forgejo to 13.0.0!

Among other things, it can now display our custom emojis in the autocomplete, which isn't a massive thing but is the user-facing thing that we thought was cool in this release

The UK is still trying to backdoor E2EE communications and files in Apple's iCloud suite of services. This time, they want it only for UK users, but that doesn't change anything.

The Starlight Network migration is complete!

we are back! iceshrimp took...a lot longer than we expected to say the least.
September 27, 2025 at 9:57 AM
Prosody is migrated!

Next up is this very fedi instance. This one _should_ be quick. See ya on the other side!
September 27, 2025 at 4:50 AM
Next up on the list of services to migrate is Prosody.

This will incur some more downtime, during said downtime we won't be reachable via [email protected] on XMPP. We expect this to take a little bit longer.
September 27, 2025 at 2:31 AM
Next up is a short downtime for Forgejo to move it over as well.

Despite my best efforts, I wasn't able in the slightest to hold the ~1 hour deadline due to unexpected complications with configuring Drasl.

For now, Drasl will be down. I'll publish updates once things are ready.
