Anyway I have no one to talk about this with so I’m nerding out about it here.

Which can still be before Europe and after blue jeans. I was stunned and delighted that Goldman-as-Morgenstern managed to make a timeline sound SO ABSURD but still makes it land in a very specific three-year window of time. 😂

Denim was used as a fabric in Northern Italy as early as the end of the 17th century. So, if Buttercup was born before Voltaire but after “blue jeans”—aka denim—then she would have been born in about 1690-1693 and therefore the story takes place in about 1708-1711.

Well, it turns out that Europe was more or less agreed upon as a landmass sometime in the early 1700s. And while blue jeans as we understand them did not exist until the late 18th century (which would appear to throw the whole timeline…)

My student and I DID map it out. We know that the story takes place after mirrors (6000 BC), after kisses were invented (apparently in 1694 BC), after Paris (400 BC), after glamour (8th century CE?), after acres (13th century CE), but BEFORE Europe and AFTER blue jeans??

Morgenstern has multiple parentheticals that he uses to set the time and place. On first read, they seem like if you were to map them out chronologically, it would be entirely nonsensical. Things such as (This was before Europe) but also (This was after Paris). AND YET!

He has multiple introductions post-film in which he describes in great detail his own visits to Florin (also implicating André the Giant and Stephen King in this pseudo-reality). We’ve finally read through Chapter One, which is allegedly by S. Morgenstern.

One way or another, the world is going to be very interesting for the next eight years. Gemini is all about connection, so stay connected and build community. That’s where the real change happens.

Astrology guarantees NOTHING. It is a method of studying patterns across time, just like studying history. Fatalism helps no one. The best method is to observe the patterns, engage with the world around you, and help shape history instead of letting it happen to you because of “the planets.”

Our exact Uranus return as a nation occurs three times due to various retrogrades: July 26th, 2027; November 5th, 2027; and May 11th, 2028.

Historically, the United States has been embroiled in a major, domestically destabilizing war when Uranus has been in Gemini (WWII, Civil War, Revolution).

In the birth chart of the United States, Uranus is in Gemini in the 7th house of long-term relationships and contracts. This Uranus retrograde in the U.S. 6th house showed instability in daily life and foreshadowed changes in relations with long-term allies.

Other notes:

Uranus has been hanging out near the fixed star Algol, which is malevolent, associated with violence and decapitation. In 2024, the attempted assassination of DJT occurred when Uranus and Algol were exactly conjunct. Uranus will be exactly conjunct Algol again at the end of April 2025.

Retrogrades happen fairly often with the outer planets Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, so we don’t experience them as acutely as Mercury retrograde, for example. But there are still things to notice depending on where in your birth chart Uranus retrograde fell. How have you responded to external change?

Taurus is a fixed earth sign associated with wealth, material possessions, comfort, and stubbornness/steadiness. Those born since 2018 will grow to have innovative ideas about what is valuable, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they develop a new form of economy in adulthood.

I remember thinking “Jupiter in Gemini is going to be MY YEAR!” And I guess it was … but not at all in any way I would have expected. So if anyone tells you that astrology can tell you what will happen… no. But with self-awareness and humility, it can be an excellent tool for reflection and growth.
