Still, a realistic attempt to subvert 2026 elections would target a handful of state w/ GOP trifectas, namely TX, FL, OH, & GA which together currently hold 30 Dem House seats. They could steal all 30 while protecting vulnerable GOP districts there would make it way less likely they lose the House.

It's possible that people are using "swing state" to mean purple states, thinking that's where the most relevant elections will be concentrated. Most people don't realize that competitive legislative elections are concentrated in the most populous states, regardles of how deep blue or red they are.

That system which we call "democracy" is better characterized as liberalism and liberalism as an ideology has always been centered on the interests of the bourgeoise. One may have a right to vote, but often only for one of a variety of shitty rich persons who lie to you for a living.

He was talking about classical liberalism, not populist democracy. He was a classic British chauvinist endorsing imperialism and staunchly opposing socialism.

Our country is showing that our system inevitably leads to mad kings. Allowing the rich to accumulate unlimited wealth & power will always lead to oligarchy & fascism.

Based on the many things Hasan has said, I suspect this comment is either out of context or generally not serious. Like, does anyone seriously think Hasan has suddenly become a socdem/rad lib over night?

I don't know if its candor or a flex tbh

Naked bourgeois class consciousness. The sooner people learn this is how the bourgeoise thinks, the sooner they'll realize their oppression is not an aberration but intentional acts of the ongoing class war.

If you had to come over on a boat, you're an immigrant. We live on lands stolen from the people who are actually indigenous.

A rejection of socialism is a rejection of social justice. Private ownership of the means of production is the root of society's greatest ills and we cannot build a just world until we dig it out & replace it.

It can take longer than a day, but general strikes are really powerful. For some perspective, the longest continuous general strike in an advanced economy was 2 weeks in France 1968 & the famous May Day general strike was just 4 days. It's often less about length & more about scale of participation.
January 30, 2026 at 5:07 PM
I'm just trying to highlight the importance of centralized organization that differentiates a strike from a loosely organized, decentralized boycott strategy. The former is significantly more impactful than the latter, but not everything has to be a strike. Again, you do you.
January 30, 2026 at 3:33 PM
The thing that makes it a strike is coordination with an organized group, but that doesn't mean everyone has to participate in public demonstrations related to the strikes. I would only call it voting with your wallet if your efforts are too far removed, like if you were in a different country.

Pretty sure this is about cop solidarity, not status of the infraction. ACAB

I think modern MLB has trade rules to avoid frequent pure cash trades. iirc, a long time ago there was a player who was traded for a bucket of baseball bats just to clear the guy from the 40 man, & MLBPA negotiated the next CBA to prevent collusion & abuse of the trade system like that.

You do realize that when consumption fails to keep pace with production we get a recession and capital decreasing prices en masse is called deflation, right? Furthermore, the point of withholding consumption is to block capital from extracting surplus labor value & force them to sit on their supply.

A general strike is a little different from a union strike. It's "general" because it targets the general economy and involves workers from a variety of industries rather than being focused on a single employer/trade. The point is to grind the economy to a halt and destabilize the powers that be.
January 30, 2026 at 9:54 AM
Strikes only work as an organized, collective effort. You do you, but it's worth differentiating a strike from "voting with your wallet" so to speak.

He is unironically best since the guy who dropped napalm on Vietnamese children and all that goes to prove is that ascendant fascism in the US is "normal times" imperialism turned inward. Biden's admin was too little too late; proof we have to scrap liberalism to have a real chance at progress.

Thx for the correction. I forget the 100 mile zone is just where they can do stuff without a warrant. I could've sworn it also applied to international airports since they function as a border, but I could be wrong.
January 27, 2026 at 4:38 PM
Anything within a 100 mile radius of a legal port of entry (includes airport with international flights) is considered CBP jurisdiction. ICE has nationwide jurisdiction. It's all just pretextual justification for terrorizing cities with immigration enforcement.
