So the whole thing about Trump narrowing the deficit is basically not true, even if it’s down year on year right now?

in what ways are the Kevins “bonkers”? Interested in your views.

On the issue, Trump wants lower long rates and it‘s not certain Warsh can deliver that with lower fed rates, although I think Trump eventually could get it in a scenario where the economy weakens substantially.

I have no idea. But in my field, economics, high end skill would be necessary, if not sufficient. Weeding out all those who haven’t done the hard work is essential. There are plenty of eminently competent economists to choose from an absolutely no need to look for alternative intelligence.

75% sound low, but high enough. If the issue would be explained in a matter of fact neutral way, the share of Americans who want to see the release of the files would be much higher. That is what I believe is in the heart of my fellow Americans no matter what.

As I understand it, it would be difficult to fudge the BLS and other official numbers without it being known. So, what they may do is simply to just write in different numbers that they like over what actual statistical data collection and reporting would show. That would be known.

Did anyone look at the rankings? The University of Liverpool together with 293 other universities are better than Princeton. Five Australian universities in Australia are better than UC Berkeley. University of Pittsburgh is better than MIT.

The Rs don’t have one and it should be a losing issue for them. So the Ds need to say what they want to do in a compelling, populist way - regardless of the merit of Cuban’s thoughts. Otherwise health care will be a losing issue for Rs and Ds.

To those who say Europe understand. At some level they do, but they don’t fully accept it. As soon as Trump says anything that hints at the US being reasonable, they are ready to not understand. The US siding with Putin against what Eisenhower, Kennedy, Reagan stood for is just incomprehensible.

At least where DC studies, intro physics sequence Is being taught in MATLAB. Math is proof heavy, so not software based, which I personally think is good. Real analysis seems to be the goal before doing more applied stuff. Not sure what excel adds.

Indeed, his service to our country is not and will not be fogotten.

thanks

What does that mean? Trump and Schumer don’t know how to use a computer. You want to go back to a time when there were no computers?
December 15, 2025 at 8:41 AM
Me too. What was the original tweet about?

Great analysis. I wonder if fiscal expansion will be able to delay a sharp economic downturn and stock market decline. It's obviously coming.

You're right, I certainly don't remember labor market downturns are like TikTok ZerHedge not VC rocketship emoji guys. When did this happen?
December 13, 2025 at 2:22 PM
They haven't had a serious primary race since 2008. Biden, the Vice President of a very successful presidency, did not run in 2016, in 2020 almost everyone folded after SC to support the Party, and in 2024...

Seems like a sanguine view of immigration as a winning issue for Democrats?

Does Longwell agree with this assessment?

Has any Democrat won anything on that strategy for governor, senator, or representative yet?
December 13, 2025 at 4:06 AM
Great column, even if depressing.

One point: While I agree what matters is character and the people, thinking about reforms to strengthen governance and reduce corruption is still worthwhile. If for no other reason to be anware and not take rule of law and liberty for granted.

Can we be sure it‘s not because of Van Buren? I think it is.

F*** MVB!
December 10, 2025 at 12:16 AM
Basically agree. My comment was more me raising my hands. "rig/stack the SCOTUS." is really not the solution - agree. I also don't amending the constitution happening anytime soon. I know what I think is the first best solution is, but what the second best and feasible solution is - I don's know.
December 8, 2025 at 3:01 PM
Is that a terrible scenario - both amendments are ignored as they have no reasonable bearing on what the country looks like today, including due to completely unforeseeable technological change - and whatever congress passes is the law of the land?
December 6, 2025 at 11:40 PM
I had the same reaction. I will not watch or follow for the first time. 1974 Cruyff, 1978 Holland hitting the post, 1982 Juve D-line, 1986 Maradona, 1990 Matheus and so on

Sad.

(and yes many past reasons to be appalled and stop watching, maybe this just a little bit too close to home.)
