Will code for food.
"building things that help us do more things more easily" once meant e.g. inventing Rails to remediate to the Java XML crazyness.
Today it means delegating to a machine what we can barely comprehend, because mastering the full stack has become next to impossible.
Which is fine for some, I guess.

My 2c: we're automating for the wrong reasons. I see *tons* of code written to satisfy the gods of unnecessary complexity, when using a different approach would literally eradicate much of it. To mitigate this burden, we resort to LLMs to do the grunt work for us. It's all self-inflicted.

I haven't read anything by him (yet!) but I *loved* Bad Monkey on Apple TV. No idea how Vince Vaughn's character compares to the book version but he was perfect in the TV show.

ouch :-(
my recent episode was not as bad (no puking) but I didn't know that vertigo is a possible side effect of gastritis (never happened before), so it was a bit scary at first. And the fact that what happens in the stomach can have such an effect is just WTF?

"intelligent design", my ass

Ever experienced gastric vertigo? It's fun!
(not so much, actually)

Semi-luddite here.
We have Alexa at home (it was a gift), but 99.9% of our usage is just TWO commands:
- turn on the radio (always the same station)
- turn on the lights in the living room
that's it.

A more interesting question would be "can RC explain how a root password change was not immediately detected?"

Speaking of fascists, I've just started reading this but I think it's going to paint a pretty accurate picture of people like DHH et al.

Native apps are always better (see also Paw/RapidAPI vs the abomination called Postman).
After switching to Zed I can't use VSCode anymore, it's just... extremely offputting.

Exactly.
But using "master" will own the woketards! 🙄

I always thought that the reason for the switch was at least debatable, but "main" is so much better that raging against it just for "anti-woke" reasons is the dumbest take ever.

I can't think of a _name_, but Joel Drupper summarized him quite effectively: "This is a man with big opinions and little thought."
