Catholic. Teacher. Student. John Stuart Mill is my boy. Hopeful that workers' cooperatives are the basis of the future economy. I’m somewhere between a social democrat and a communist.
Capitalism doesn't produce bad products, it just produces good products unethically

In regard to Trump and the Epstein files:

Trump didn’t need to be an active participant to bear responsibility. His proximity to Epstein, failure to act, and insistence on loyalty over accountability make moral complicity and skepticism toward official defenses justified.

Piracy is not theft.

Capitalism forces 3% of the population to commit injustice against 97%, while 97% are forced to endure injustice from the 3%.

Rousseau was Robespierre’s Marx and Marx was Stalin’s Rousseau

My economic views are much more influenced by those of John Stuart Mill and the Ricardian socialists, than by Marx.

Under a market socialist economy, the average annual income per worker in the US would go up from ~$65,000 ➡️ ~$90,000. Then, with an average tax rate of 36%, a full set of basic services could be funded.

There would still be a small level of inequality, & so taxation would of course be progressive.

A little flow chart I made to explain the decentralized, democratic model of market socialism for which I advocate.

“Do not trust in sacrifice of the fruits of extortion,
For he is a God of justice,
who shows no partiality.
He shows no partiality to the weak
but hears the grievance of the oppressed.
He does not forsake the cry of the orphan,
nor the widow when she pours out her complaint.”

Anti-Latin-American xenophobia is rooted in anti-indigenous racism.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how billionaires simply shouldn’t exist and it’s very idealistic, but I would totally support a marginal wealth tax of 100% above 12.28 million dollars.

Why do general strikes not happen in the US, while remaining common in Europe, despite being an effective way to push for social and political change besides just economic?

Basically, the US has criminalized mass, labor-driven collective action, while many European countries still protect it.

The state exists merely to promote political, economic, ecological and social justice; not to wage war, not to exclude the foreigner, not to legislate against victimless moral wrongs, not to own or direct the economy, and not to protect the wealthy.

The working class naturally tends toward the full ownership of the fruits of its labor. It is the state which protects the capitalist class from this natural tendency while the capitalist society at large brainwashes the working class into believing that capitalism is the true natural tendency.

Falastin was an Arab Christian newspaper and in 1936 it featured a portrayal of Zionism as a crocodile to the Arab people with the caption “Do not be afraid!!! I will swallow you peacefully…”

Christians have been opposed to Zionism since the beginning.

St. Francis of Assisi,
lover of the poor and herald of peace,
teach me simplicity of heart,
to love all creation as the handiwork of the Creator,
and to see in every living being a reflection of the divine goodness.

St Francis of Assisi is the namesake of the House of Hospitality in which I work.

“Liberals are so liberal about everything that they refuse to be fanatical about anything. And not being able to be fanatical about anything, liberals cannot be liberators.” - Peter Maurin

So the question is, “why be a liberal when you can be a liberator?”

The mainstream left opposes poverty and oppression, yet defends abortion—a symptom and contributor to both. True logical consistency means building a society where no one is driven to abortion by despair, as well as extending solidarity to the unborn (as we should to ALL who are marginalized).

Crossing imaginary lines is NOT morally wrong.

What IS morally wrong is sending people back to danger after crossing to escape, or blocking them from crossing when they try to escape.

The error of the right is that it assigns moral value where there is none, and then frames cruelty as virtue.
