Part of the problem is that remuneration committees are stacked with people whose pay is decided by remuneration committees. Need statutory employee and other stakeholder representation on them.

True-ish. Every country has people it can invest in to grow capability. But if your land doesn't have precious metals or rare-earth minerals, no amount of investment will grow them. Both needed, people and materials. This in no way excuses invasion, imperialism or colonialism. Trade is the way.

Never mind influence. We should have principles. They should include condemning any action that is in contravention of international law. Regardless of who does it.
