English isn’t my native language, so sometimes (really often) i just can’t understand a lot of things people are saying and google translator is NOT translating it properly. It actually pisses me off sm

What is this phenomenon that I am happy with my art until I share it? As soon as it gets "judged" by many people I feel sad about my work and wished I never posted it. Wips are fine but finished art somehow triggers that feeling :/

I showed an artist friend my recent sketches. They were impressed until I mentioned that I used references. Then they were obviously disappointed. What is this mentality of "art is only good when made without references"?

If I like my own art depended on external recognition: Lot of engagement meant to me good art. Being happy with just the art wasn't enough. Now I don't even reach this state. I am unhappy with my own progress before I even share it. I am honestly lost.

Someone told me this about procrastination: accept it as part of the creative process because without it we wouldn't able to get the result we actually get. While procrastinating we (subconsciously) think about the piece and its process and that's actually very productive in it's own way.
